INDRAMAT (from “Gesellschaft zur INDustrialisierung-RAtionalisierung und AutoMATisierung,” or Association for Industrialization, Rationalization and Automation) GmbH was founded in 1958, in Neuwied am Rhein, Germany, as an industrial control firm. The company produced industrial servo drives and motion controls for use on machine tools, machine presses, printing presses, food packaging machinery, as well as assembly lines and material handling equipment. In 1965 INDRAMAT was acquired by the hydraulic concern Rexroth, which was subsequently taken over by Mannesmann AG. In 2001, following Mannesmann’s acquisition by Robert Bosch GmbH, Bosch Rexroth came into being, and INDRAMAT GmbH became the Electric Drives and Controls Technology Group.
