The CNC i series uses Fanuc A98L-0031-0012 Sanyo CR17450SE-R batteries to preserve the contents of its memory, because it must retain data such as programs, offsets, and parameters even while external power is not applied. If the Fanuc battery voltage drops, a low battery voltage alarm is displayed on the machine operator’s panel. When a low battery voltage alarm is displayed, replace the Sanyo CR17450SE-R batteries within a week. Otherwise, the contents of the CNC’s memory will be lost.
 
When replacing the SANYO CR17450SE-R battery for the FANUC OEM A98L-0031-0012, ensure the machine (CNC Controller) remains powered ON. This is to prevent any loss of memory and data on your CNC. This SANYO Battery is usually fitted in the back of your FANUC i series yellow backplane.
